Course Changes
There are 5 hole changes
on the back 9.
1.
Hole 11 will approach the pond but instead of going over
the pond, there is a dogleg to the left and down the hill, right of the pond to
a new green. The new green is just under
6,000 sq.ft. and has
several unique levels. There is a water hazard across the entire front of
the base of the green. The old #11 was a
Par 5 but the new hole will be a Par 4.
2.
Hole 12 is a new
hole. After finishing Hole 11, follow
the cart path around the back of the New #11 green up to the top of the pond
levee. Go left along the pond to and
around the back of the new tee boxes. The lower, larger portion is for White and
Red tees and there is an elevated Blue tee in the back. This new
Par 3 is a full carry over the pond
to a new green that sits in front of
the pond. This hole is only 126 yards from the White Tees, but
there is a water hazard on the left
and front sides of the green. The back
center and left of the green drop off moderately and the back right and right boarders
drop toward the green. The approximate 5,000 sq.ft. platform allows for plenty of room but a shot could be
greatly affected by the dramatic wind
changes across the pond. This Par 3 replaces the old #18.
3.
With the addition of the New 12 hole each hole from
here on changes up by 1. (12 is 13; 13 is 14; 15 is 16 etc.)
4.
The New 16
Hole (old #15) is now a Par 5. It replaces the #11 par 5. There are 3 new Tees on this hole. The Blue tee is further up the hill and
behind the old Blue tee. The views are
great, the air is thin and it takes a good poke to get to the fairway. Below the blues is the new two tier White box. Again the views a superb. Below these and to the left of the old White
tee boxes are the Red and Gold tees. As
you approach the new green you will see that the old #15 green platform has been cut away leaving a gentle terraced
slope down to the New 16 green that
is bordered in the back by the main pond.
The good news is that the new green
is over 5,500 sq.ft. plus ample fringe (The old Green was about 3,800 sq.ft.) and it slopes gently toward the tees. The bad news is that there is a very steep slope to the pond, so don’t
overshoot this one.
5.
The changes on the 17th Hole (old 16) are primarily in the tee box area. The new
Tees are ahead and to the left of the old tees. There are two elevations, Blue on top and White on the bottom. Your shot is straight down the fairway---no more dogleg. The yardages are almost the same but this new
change also comes with a new pond. The new pond is positioned between the new
tees and the old Red/Gold tees. It
should not pose much of a problem for play but on the other hand --- it is a water hazard. The new pond was designed primarily for
irrigation support.
6.
The last change is the New #18 Hole (old 17). It is
obvious at this point that the old 18 is replaced by this hole and that the #18
par 3 replacement is #12. The New 18 is
a dogleg right to a new peninsula green (island for those
who prefer) from the old #17 tee boxes. If you play this one as though it were the old
#17 you could be terribly disappointed. A ball hit too far down the fairway
will force a well aimed shot over the water to the narrowest part of the green. On the other hand, a shot placed just before
the old 100 yard marker will give
you a clear shot to the green with minimal water
hazard maximum green safety. Have
fun.
When
will these holes be ready?
The new 16,
17, and 18 will open at the beginning
of the season. The vast majority of
the surfaces have been covered with sod leaving only a few peripheral areas
requiring seeding this spring. The
number 11 and 12 holes should open
around the 1st week of June. We look
forward to seeing you. ENJOY
